Coolant and water pump failure are often connected. Your vehicle’s engine is working hard and generating lots of heat. The water pump circulates coolant throughout the engine so that your vehicle does not overheat. What a nightmare that could be!
When the coolant is low or in poor condition, the engine temperature rises and you will have a mess on your hands rather quickly. The coolant isn’t able to protect your vehicle from rust, sludge and other grime. And the water pump can fail.
Obviously, extremely low coolant can damage the water pump’s seals and bearings, but did you know this damage can even continue after you add coolant to the correct levels? I didn’t know this either, but it can.
It’s a no brainier to keep an eye on you coolant level just like you do for your oil… you do check your oil; don’t you?
