Many of us take the cruise control on our vehicles for granted. I do, it’s part of the car…. a given if you will.
Cruise control; like we know it today, was patented in 1950, according to the Smithsonian. Ralph Teetor, a mechanical engineer, developed this well-used car feature. It gained popularity in 1973 due to the oil crisis. Sudden surges that could lower fuel economy were eliminated when people would use their cruise .
