Our weather this June has been unbelievable! And this weekend was no exception. If you were spending any time in your vehicle, sure hope the air conditioner was working. How about the quality of the air inside your car… was it clean and refreshing or was it a bit on the smelly side?
If the air was not as pleasant as you think it should be, your cabin air filter may need changing.
This is a good time of the year to have the different filters in your vehicles checked for possible replacement. Below are the filters you will want inspected and replaced as needed; including the cabin air filter.
Oil filter: As your engine runs, the oil circulates through the oil filter where clumps of dirt and sludge are captured. You want to do regular maintenance for oil changes as this is when the oil filter will be changed as well. Check your vehicle’s owner’s manual for the time frame needed. Ignoring this maintenance could cause additional expensive repairs. Many motorists are choosing to upgrade to synthetic oil for better protection and to increase their oil change interval. This is a great idea, but also remember you need an oil filter that has a higher capacity to match.
Fuel filter: Obviously it filters your fuel, but what does this mean? Another words, the filter screens out dirt, rust and other foreign particles from the fuel. The fuel filter is placed in the fuel line, somewhere in between the fuel tank and the engine. Both gas and diesel vehicles use fuel filters. It’s best to replace your car’s fuel filter every 2 years or 24,000 miles.
Engine air filter: This is the filter that cleans the air before it’s burned in your engine. You want to keep this filter clean so that debris does not get into your vehicle’s engine. This filter will be checked when your oil change is completed.
Cabin air filter: This is like the filter on your furnace in your home. It catches dust, pollen and other pollutants before they can get into your cabin, the area where you sit. Hence the name.
When you have our 29-point courtesy inspection completed our techs will check this filter. You need to replace this filter if it is dirty and/or the air has an odor when you turn on your air conditioner or heater. The pictures below show what this filter looks like new and in need of replacement.
Enjoy the weather and be safe!
