Oh, well you know what to do…. stop by your repair shop and have them take a look. Most likely they will find a faulty water pump. If so, it is critical that this is replaced ASAP! A water pump of course pumps the coolant that cools your engine. When your water pump is broken it can’t pump the coolant and it overheats. You won’t be going any where for long and you don’t want to get stranded.
Have you noticed a whining or grinding sound coming from the water pump area? Water pumps and timing belts generally get replaced at the same time. Your technician has already gotten things taken apart and the belt’s likely been contaminated by coolant, so it’s best to replace the water pump and the timing belt at the same time. On the positive side, this will save you money in the long run.
