Can oil leaks lead to damage to other parts of your vehicle? The simple answer is YES! Oil lubricates the moving parts and helps to disperse heat. If your vehicle is low on oil due to a leak it can cause unnecessary wear and tear on engine components. Leaks can also damage the radiator. Any accumulated oil can wear down the seals and hoses. Ultimately coolant leaks and problems with the air conditioning and heating systems will happen. If you suspect an oil leak in your vehicle, you need to get it in and have the source of the leak diagnosed. It could be a degraded gasket, oil pan leak or a loose or missing oil pan drain plug. Most times, oil leaks can be found during those necessary oil changes. When you got your first car, someone instilled in you the necessity of regular oil changes. Now you know why!

Shocks are the main component of a vehicle's suspension system. But there are other key parts to this system as well. Springs, control arms and sway bars are the other main parts. All 4 of these parts work together to give you the smooth ride that you expect. Some indications of a suspension issue could be: 1. car is bouncing more than usual 2. uneven tire wear 3. nose diving or rear squatting 4. knocking or clunking sounds While these are some rather overt indications of an issue; it is a good idea to have your suspension looked at once per year. Like many things on our vehicles, a poorly working suspension can lead to other issues and become more costly than necessary. If you notice your ride is not as smooth as it normally is, give us a call to have a look. 608-782-1375

How do you break an axle? 1. Carrying or towing much more much weight than manufacturer recommends; more than the axle can handle safely 2. Neglecting routine maintenance-- This includes shafts, gears, bearings and other parts of an axle. Your vehicle will experience metal (not mental) fatigue. One of the main reasons for metal fatigue is rusted parts. 3. Driving in hazardous conditions -- road conditions and driving through rough terrain puts weight on the axle and restricts the vehicle’s ability to rotate or turn. This video shows you what the inside of a CV Shaft/axle looks like. I found it to be very interesting. It is about 9 minutes long. ** Be sure to watch the last part of the video for some tips on when to replace the shaft/axle ... read more
