Window Regulator

Window Regulator

When it comes to auto repair, there are several common ones we think of; brakes, transmission, check engine light (CEL), tires, and wipers. Most of us never give a second thought about our car doors or the windows. We open and close the doors every time we get in our cars to go somewhere. Most of us don't give a second thought as to what we would do if a door or window quit working. If you are having issues with either a window or lock, let our techs get the issue resolved quickly and get you back on the road safely.

OEM Parts

OEM Parts

Maybe you have heard of OEM parts, but not sure what O-E-M stands for. OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. OEM parts are highly recommended by your vehicle's manufacturer, of course! However, most of the time a well-made aftermarket part will work just as well, for a lower price. Here at Bob's Auto, we use aftermarket parts 99% of the time. We also offer a Lifetime Warranty on non-wear parts. For example, if we install a door window regulator and it goes bad within a few months from the installation date, we will replace it for no charge (includes parts and labor)! We do need to have the broken part in order to complete the warranty on our end, so the repair needs to be completed here, at Bob's Auto. Our techs are ready to tackle any issues your vehicle may be experiencing. Give us a call! 608-782-1375.

A Car's Cinderella Era

A Car's Cinderella Era

Do you own a newer vehicle? Have you thought about keeping this vehicle for an extended period of time? Maybe for its lifetime? There are many advantages to holding on to your vehicle; even after it has reached the Cinderella Era. You ask: "What's the Cinderella Era?" This is the period after the loan is paid off, but your vehicle is still in good condition. "The financial benefits of keeping your vehicle long after you have paid it off are significant," said Rich White, executive director, Car Care Council. Wouldn't be nice to drive your vehicle without worrying about it breaking down. Rich White also has a very wise proposition to how we can financially prepare for those maintenance and repair bills: "By allocating the equivalent of just one car payment annually during the Cinderella Era and saving the rest, you can cover an entire year's worth of basic maintenance and grow your nest egg." Some great advice!

The Water Pump

The Water Pump

The water pump plays a major role in the operation of our vehicles. When talking about auto repair we generally think of maintenance items like belts, hoses, tires, brakes, oil change etc. A failed water pump just isn't something we think of needing replacement. Our vehicles just will not run if the coolant is not circulating through our vehicle's engine. Yes, the water pump is a very important car part! Eventually the fuel pump will fail. You may notice a growling or squealing noise coming from the engine area. You may also see coolant leaks under the vehicle around the timing belt area. You may also get the notification of low coolant. The NAPA link below has some great information on the water pump as well as a couple videos. Check them out! https://bobsautoservice.napawebtools.com/topic/water-pump/

Repairs and Maintenance Not to Ignore

Repairs and Maintenance Not to Ignore

Getting repairs or maintenance done on our vehicles just isn't fun. We have to go without our vehicles for a day to a week or longer. Many of us put off repairs and/or maintenance for many different reasons. The danger in doing this, of course, is we risk creating more issues or damage to our vehicles. The following 5 repairs need to be completed sooner than later for this very reason. 1. Worn engine/motor mounts. These mounts hold your engine in place. Obviously if the engine is not secured properly with these mounts, you risk other parts breaking. 2. Exhaust leaks. Not only are exhaust issues loud, but you risk the fumes entering inside your vehicle and potential health risks. 3. Fluid leaks. We all put off this repair way longer than we should. It's easier to just add the oil or power steering fluid. Over time this bad habit will cause other issues. 4. Worn shocks and struts. These rarely go bad overnight. So, when you start to feel like you're driving a boat or hear ... read more
