The water pump plays a major role in the operation of our vehicles. When talking about auto repair we generally think of maintenance items like belts, hoses, tires, brakes, oil change etc. A failed water pump just isn't something we think of needing replacement. Our vehicles just will not run if the coolant is not circulating through our vehicle's engine. Yes, the water pump is a very important car part! Eventually the fuel pump will fail. You may notice a growling or squealing noise coming from the engine area. You may also see coolant leaks under the vehicle around the timing belt area. You may also get the notification of low coolant. The NAPA link below has some great information on the water pump as well as a couple videos.
