Came across this photo and it reminded me of a conversation Jim and I had this past weekend. While driving home from the camper we came across an older vehicle that was similar to his Dad's Chrysler Fury III, that Jim had while we were dating (oh so many years ago). In our hometown, it was common to "scoop the loop" with our friends. Of course, the cars were packed with as many people as they would hold. The Fury was one of those vehicles! With its two bench seats, it was a great time! Many cars and trucks, back in the day, "needed" two people to steer! Those were the days! *NOTE-- bench seats were used approximately 1911- 2011   ... read more

Is your airbag light on? Don't ignore it! This could indicate a potential safety issue. While it might be a minor problem, it's always best to get it checked by a professional. Don't hesitate to bring your car in for a check-up

Is it getting hard to steer your vehicle? Have you found yourself needing to add power steering fluid at times? As power steering fluid gets old it starts to break down. Your steering becomes sluggish and less responsive. In this case a power steering fluid flush is needed to get the old fluid and contaminants out and new fluid in. If you find yourself adding power steering fluid, then of course, you have a leak somewhere. Minimally you would want to get the leak fixed and top off the fluid. But at Bob's Auto we most likely would recommend a power steering fluid flush. Particularly if any components or parts were needed as part of the repair. This flush is an important maintenance service that will save you money in the long run. And, you don't have to wait until you have a steering issue or leak! On average, manufacturers recommend this fluid flush every 40,000-80,000 miles. Check your owner's manual for your specific vehicle.

Shocks are the main component of a vehicle's suspension system. But there are other key parts to this system as well. Springs, control arms and sway bars are the other main parts. All 4 of these parts work together to give you the smooth ride that you expect. Some indications of a suspension issue could be: 1. car is bouncing more than usual 2. uneven tire wear 3. nose diving or rear squatting 4. knocking or clunking sounds While these are some rather overt indications of an issue; it is a good idea to have your suspension looked at once per year. Like many things on our vehicles, a poorly working suspension can lead to other issues and become more costly than necessary. If you notice your ride is not as smooth as it normally is, give us a call to have a look. 608-782-1375
