Look at this picture! It sure brings back memories of my childhood. Our family of 6 would travel to see our maternal grandparents each Sunday. Our ride was a station wagon (of course) and we would often ride with the back window down. If we were driving home at night, we would lie on our backs and look out at the stars. Along came seatbelts and our rides to grandparents became a lot safer! Many of us will be hitting the roads to visit family, friends or others this holiday season. Whether you are traveling by air, land or sea please buckle up and be safe!

Back on November 30th I did a post about Elf on the Shelf and shared some ideas of how to incorporate this fun tradition at your home. The video clip below is how one family had the Elf on the Shelf visit their home. Their young son's reaction is so adorable! I'm guessing his pjs were starting to get a little small and the Elf on the Shelf had an idea! https://www.facebook.com/Tyla/posts/684703710420037

These pictures show us another example of why car maintenance is so important. We all have the habit of putting off maintenance services because everything else is more important or we are afraid of the potential cost involved. The first picture is of a differential that has moisture in the gear oil. The second picture compares fresh clean gear oil (on the left) and contaminated oil (on the right--from a different vehicle). It is easy to see what happens to gear oil over time. When moisture is added in, you get that muddy color as well. With a little extra time, we can clean it all up and get the vehicle back in service. When was the last time your differential, transmission, and transfer case fluids were serviced? Maintenance really is the key to keeping your vehicle on the road for a long time!

Who likes to invite Elf on the Shelf into their homes? Our girls missed out on this tradition BUT I think it would be so much fun to do! It does require some time and creativity for the adults. I can't help but think the energy that this activity creates would be amazing! This tradition starts with the Elf arriving in your home sometime Thanksgiving Eve through December 1st.
