What Causes Corrosion on Top of My Battery? Corrosion on top of a battery is usually caused by the battery itself leaking acid through a seal and around the post. The corrosion could also have built up due to a bad connection. You should clean up the corrosion. If it comes right back, it is time to replace the battery. BE VERY CAREFUL when handling a corroded battery and take preventive measures. Wear latex or latex-free gloves and safety glasses.

Came across this photo and it reminded me of a conversation Jim and I had this past weekend. While driving home from the camper we came across an older vehicle that was similar to his Dad's Chrysler Fury III, that Jim had while we were dating (oh so many years ago). In our hometown, it was common to "scoop the loop" with our friends. Of course, the cars were packed with as many people as they would hold. The Fury was one of those vehicles!
